Guy was first and foremost a very talented musician. He attended Louisiana State University and was a member of the LSU Tiger Band. He was best known for being the bassist for the popular 70’s Southern rock band Potliquor of Baton Rouge. The group made five albums, did national tours, and had one single that made the national top 40. Potliquor was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in October 2013.

After the breakup of Potliquor in the early 80’s Guy moved to the Toro Community and as a licensed horticulturist opened his own business, Toro Farms. He was especially known for the beautiful poinsettia crop he produced every year for the Christmas holidays. After his first challenge with cancer in 2009 he wasn’t able to meet the physical demands of growing and dedicated his time to running the Schaeffer family business, Toro Service Center. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
