Terry Lane Carter

Terry Lane Carter of Hornbeck, Louisiana passed away on June 23, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. Terry “TLC” was born to Roland and Kathryn Carter on December 11, 1947 and grew up in Negreet, Louisiana where he developed his strong work ethic in the fields, passion for horses with his Grandpa Carter and love of dominoes with his Uncle R.H.

He met his childhood sweetheart and future wife, Margaret McGraw, at church singing schools and would eventually spend many a night playing bass as friends would gather in his and Margaret’s home for ‘pickin and grinnin’ jam sessions.

Terry loved the outdoors and after retiring from ownership of his small business West Louisiana Marble and Granite, he could be found quietly helping others behind the scenes, rehabilitating neglected horses, or in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years and three children: Angela Knotts, Clay Carter, and Courtney Ritter; grandchildren Heather Knotts, Kearstin Knotts Stracener, Kaleigh Knotts, Ally Grace Ritter and Micah Ritter; great-granddaughters Skylar, Aria, and Olivia Stracener; brother Kenny Carter, Uncles Kent and R.H. Anderson of Many and Aunt Opal Marr of Shreveport and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation is planned for Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Prewitts Chapel, 383 Prewitt Chapel Rd., Hornbeck, Louisiana. The funeral will follow immediately at 12:00 p.m.
