Funeral services for Phyllis Murdock, 90, of Zwolle, LA will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle on Tuesday, September 5th at 10AM with Father Tim Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4th starting at 5PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home also in Zwolle.

Phyllis was born on June 20th 1933 in Jeanerette, Louisiana to her parents, J.C. D’Abadie and Bessie D’Abadie. She passed away surrounded by her family on August 30, 2023. She graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge where she met the love of her life, Lloyd A. (Bucky) Murdock. She and her husband returned to Zwolle in 1959 where they raised two children, Allen and Renee.

Mrs. Murdock was integral part of the community in Zwolle and surrounding area as her devoted service and philanthropy exceeded five decades. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an educator for over 34 years. After retiring from teaching, she served numerous roles throughout the church and the community.

Phyllis had a passion for travel and seized every opportunity to explore new places and adventures. She was a true world traveler and happily shared this love with her family. One of her prized possessions was a wall sized map of the world with pins in every place she had visited. She loved a good party (or any reason to celebrate) and her LSU Tigers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She truly lived her life to the fullest and left a spark wherever she went.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd (Bucky) Murdock.

She is survived by two children, Allen Murdock; Renee Bridges; three grandchildren, Whitney Blake Wimer and husband Travis, Allie Blake Byrd and husband Curtis and Duncan Murdock. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Beckett Wimer, Bronson Wimer, Waylon Byrd, Sam Byrd and Luke Byrd.

Honoring Phyllis as pallbearers are Collin Richie, Gary Walsh, Harold Procell, Duncan Murdock, Chris Loupe, Travis Wimer, Curtis Byrd, and Tommy Jeter. Honorary pallbearers are Byron Richie, Larry Martinez and Chris Rivers.

The family expresses sincere thanks to Many Healthcare as well as Sabine Medical Center and Superior Hospice for the compassionate care and love given to Mrs. Murdock and family members.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to St. Vincent de Paul, or offerings/stipends for mass intentions for Phyllis Murdock can be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Zwolle.
