Bobby Eugene Mizell

Bobby Eugene Mi

Bobby Mizell was born in Kilgore, Texas on November 7, 1937 to U.D. and Pauline Dorsey Mizell. He passed away in his sleep early Thursday morning, January 11, 2024 in a Longview nursing facility. He worked for many years as a dispatcher for Eagle Trucking Company in Kilgore, Southern Transport in Shreveport. In a time before computers were required to operate, Bobby had the gift of remembering hundreds of phone numbers and contacts without the use of a logbook. He made friends all over the nation as he spoke daily to those that kept supplied and equipment on the haul. Bobby enjoyed many things throughout his lifetime, some of the things he enjoyed most were, playing 42 Dominos, his pigeons and rabbits, working in the yard to always make sure his grass was mowed and without doubt the greenest on the block, and watching Wheel of Fortune. He would never drive anything that wasn’t a white ford car. Bobby was an avid and faithful Dallas Cowboys fan. Perhaps one of his favorite things to do was haggle with the “umbrella guy” when he would take his family to Florida for vacations. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, U.D. Mizell Jr., James Mizell, Wayne Mizell, sisters, Jackie Ruth Holcomb, Shirley Ann Mizell Horton and daughter, Kerri Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Genia Horn and husband Jason, grandchildren, Dalton Jones, Carson Horn, Colby Horn, Carly Horn; brothers, Roy Mizell and Don Mizell.

Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. Bobby is finally at rest after fighting a long and unforgiving battle against Alzheimer’s. Our family would like to thank the incredible staff of nurses and doctors at Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation for the unwavering love and care they have shown him for taking care of him throughout the last several years of his life.
