Sharlee Angelin Salter Davis Funderburk

Sharlee Salter Funderburk, 76, of Florien, Louisiana, went to be with her Savior on February 26, 2024. She was born July 3, 1947, in Many, Louisiana to Charlie W. and Laverne Brown Salter. She graduated from Negreet High School and furthered her education with a Bachelors in Accounting degree, Masters in Teaching, and +30 in Counseling, all from Northwestern State University.

Sharlee (Granny) could be found in her garden, chicken yard, kitchen, or in her chair reading about homesteading or studying the Bible. She loved growing her own food and proudly served her home-grown beef and vegetables at family and church gatherings. Her cream peas and apple pies were legendary.

She enjoyed extensive genealogy research, spending time with her grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and studying the Bible. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for years, sharing God’s Word with many, young and old. She also taught Business and was the Counselor at Negreet High School for 25 years. Granny was an avid gardener, and spring was her favorite season when she would begin planting her garden where annual vegetable seeds sprouted, and flowers emerged with vibrant colors.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie W Salter and mother, Annie Laverne Brown Salter; brother, Edwin Grady Salter and sister, Linda Rose Salter Snell; maternal grandparents, Benjamin Franklin Brown, Jr. and Iberia Corley Brown and paternal grandparents, Jefferson Charlotta Salter and Mary Emma Antony Salter.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Dillon Funderburk of Florien, LA; daughters, Celeste Davis Funderburk and husband Charlie of Prairieville, LA and Crystal Davis Cummins and husband Don of Marthaville, LA; grandchildren, Creighton Bronson Funderburk, Corbin Davis Cummins, and Katie Grace Cummins; nieces and nephews: Sussette Salter, George Snell, Jeffrey Snell, Heather Salter Dromm, Gregory Snell, Jessica Snell Gatti, Charles Waylon Salter and wife Valerie Salter; along with a host of family, friends, step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, Florien, LA.

Pallbearers: Tyler Roark, Coby Chreene, Waylon Salter, Chris Funderburk, Jason Funderburk, and Gregory Snell.

Honorary Pallbearers: Don Cummins, Corbin Cummins, Bronson Funderburk, and Charlie Funderburk.
