Virgie Tarpley of Many, Louisiana, went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday October 17, 2023, at Grace Nursing Home in Slaughter, Louisiana. Virgie was born to Ernest Moss and Minnie (Hyatt) Moss on May 5, 1946, in Many, Louisiana. A visitation will be held for her on Saturday October 21, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 94 Sportsman’s Paradise Road, Many, Louisiana. Her service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. Virgie was married to the love of her life, Floyd Tarpley for 58 years.

Virgie was a teacher’s aide for 32 years at Negreet School where she was known for her famous saying, “I’ll beat you with a wet noodle.” Virgie loved her time at school and touched many children’s lives while she was there.

Funeral services for Sherman Campbell, 77, of Many, LA, will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Leon Manshack and Bro. Nick Remedies officiating. Burial will follow in the Florien Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church.

Sherman “Pete” Campbell was born on Monday, July 15, 1946 in Soso, MS. He passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at his residence in Many, LA.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Linda Orchid Campbell; parents, Samual Luther Campbell and Ophelia (Hancock) Campbell and four siblings.

Mr. Jeffrey Louis ‘Pop’ Sullivan of Zwolle, LA, was born on Monday, August 11, 1958 in Beaumont, Texas, to parents Robert Louis ‘Pooch’ Sullivan and Ima Jean Hays. After graduating LaPorte High School, Jeff spent his career in the oil field industry. Upon retirement, he enjoyed working with his oldest son in the automation industry at TMT Solutions. On April 11, 1981 he married the love of his life, Melanie Leone Sullivan. He passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos, TX.

Melvin Procell, a resident of Noble, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2023, at the age of 92. Melvin was born January 5, 1931 to Jeff Procell and Josephine Paddie Procell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his Son, Newton Jeffery Procell and his siblings and spouses, Abraham “Jim” Procell, Mary Agnes Procell Wynne (Clifford), Bertie May Procell Martinez (Louis), Minnie May Procell Campbell (Doyle), Linnie Mae Procell Cooper (Roby), and Ed Ernest Procell (Verple).

Melvin grew up in Noble, Louisiana and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. His basic training was in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was part of the Korean Conflict. On behalf of Melvin’s service to the USA, a military funeral will be conducted in his honor. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and loving heart for everyone that surrounded him. Melvin never met a stranger and he will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Valerie Ann (Shelton) Dunn, 61 of Many, Louisiana on Saturday, October 7, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 9891 Texas Highway, Many, Louisiana 71449, with Bro. Kenneth Leach officiating with Craig Jon Miller assisting. A visitation for Mrs. Dunn will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. She was born on May 23, 1962, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Robert Allen Shelton and Ruthie Ann (Holloway) Shelton Colburn and she passed away on October 4, 2023, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Graveside services for Shirley Faye Salter King, 87, of Tomball, TX, will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 12:15 PM at Central Cemetery with Rev. Michael Tanner officiating. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA.

Shirley Faye Salter King was born on Thursday, February 20, 1936 in Natchitoches, LA. She passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents Victor N. Salter and Clarice Francis Clower Salter; husband James William King Sr. and her great granddaughter Blakely Lenae Williams-Lewandowski.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Kitty Oglesby Murray. She peacefully went to sleep in the Lord, surrounded by family, on October 1st at University Medical Center in Lubbock TX. Born on a spring day in Colfax, Louisiana, Kitty graced this world with her gentle spirit and unwavering resolve. It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.

Kitty’s journey began in Verda, Louisiana, where she cultivated a love for learning and a thirst for knowledge. As co-valedictorian of her high school class, she embarked on a path of education, fueled by a deep desire to become a missionary nurse. Her dreams led her to work at the State Institution for the Insane in Pineville, Louisiana, and subsequently to the North Louisiana Sanitarian Nursing School in Shreveport. Her passion for caring for others remained a guiding force throughout her life.

David Seegers, 76, of Groves, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at The Medical Center of SETX in Port Arthur.

David was born in Many, Louisiana, on January 9, 1947, he was the son of Henry Owen Seegers and Rosa Belle Seegers. He was a Groves resident for over forty years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and shooting. He will be dearly missed by all and forever be in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Owen Seegers, his mother Rosa Belle Seegers, and two brothers, Jimmie Seegers and Lloyd Seegers.

Memorial services for Lee Isgitt, 84, of Many, LA will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Cyle Clayton and Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Visitation will begin on Saturday at Noon at Calvary Baptist Church, Many, LA.

Lee Raymond Isgitt was born on March 26, 1939 and passed away on September 20, 2023. He retired as a Master Trooper from the Louisiana State Police. Lee R. served the community as a law enforcement officer in various capacities for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fisher and Dovie Isgitt; sisters, Peggy Smith and Sharon (Susie) Bridges; daughter, Tanya Leone; grandson, Gabe Campbell and son-in-law, James Campbell.

Funeral services for Eloise Hayes, 97, of Many Louisiana will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 3:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with President Jared Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at the Many Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Eloise Brown Hayes was born on October 5, 1925 to William Thomas Brown and Ethyl Hammett (Brown) in Forest, Louisiana and passed away Thursday September 14, 2023 in Many, Louisiana.
